KT-DTP took its first breath when Killian Tarver took his last. Killian Tarver is Cassandra Tarver’s brother in law who passed at the age of 29. Cassandra like many others did not know anything about Sickle Cell until she met her now husband and co founder Manning Tarver and now brother in law Killian Tarver. Observing Killian going in and out the hospital for blood transfusions, long stays in the hospital, slurred speech due to a stroke at 10 years old, made her ask herself, why a disease that mostly affect her community, she knows nothing about... Killian Tarver physically left us in 2007 but he lives on in everyone’s memories who had the pleasure to know him. No matter the pain, Killian always had a smile on his face and beat to his walk!
